Panorama July: Spain
By Sound World and Construction Area
We face the final stretch of summer with the release of a law that limits the temperature of air conditioning in public spaces. Undoubtedly, a complicated autumn advance that awaits us energetically speaking. Meanwhile, the festivals that are still on the summer agenda are being held and musical releases are arriving in dribs and drabs. Despite this lack of news, typical of the time of year, here are our highlights from last July.
On his new LP, Miqui Puig sings Vol. 7, the Catalan Miqui Puig has abandoned the confessional narrative to make way for the suggestive and evocative. Any of his songs takes us to a moment in our life, his, really, because Miqui's fan, like Morrissey's, like Gainsbourg's, shares his life with ours.
An album that surprises, a turn, the umpteenth. Well understood revisionism of dance music. Miqui returns, melancholic, punk, danceable, resistant from Barcelona North: seven and a half, double couples, dogs and singles, love and motorcycles and drum machines. As guests we find Queralt Lahoz, Irantzu Valencia, Harny Roots, Ferran Palau and El Petit de Cal Eril. Miqui has returned to the track, for a while on the decks and another moving her hips. Master. The fucking master. (By Octavio Milian)
