What does Spain sound like today? (Special episode)

Within the framework of the Cubadisco 2021 International Fair, our magazine produced —under the auspices of the Cultural Department of the Embassy of Spain in Cuba— two special episodes of Los Cassettes de AM:PM, in which they talk about the new sounds and the panorama of festivals and music events that coexist in the Iberian country. 

Today we start with the first installment, where we invite Spanish critics Alex García Amat, José Fajardo and Yeray S. Iborra to offer us their assessments of the contemporary Spanish music scene. All approaches that speak of that new sound that looks towards tradition, that emerges from the peripheries or from the place that we least imagine, in a constant generational renewal and breaking of borders. 

In this round trip, where diversity is the main course and C. Tangana and Rosalía are perhaps the most visible figures, these specialists answer questions related to the paradigm shift around the success of gangs, the current state of the internationalization of Spanish music, and the impact that the pandemic has had —or will have— on the creation of sounds in the European country.
