Non-state management of music: to go up to heaven

For just over ten years, the Cuban musical ecosystem has seen the birth —with greater or lesser success— of new management models that in some cases did not exist and in others have proven to be more dynamic and effective than similar ones under state control. However, in the list of activities that can be carried out on their own account, only two correspond to the music sector: musical instrument tuner and teacher. The rest of the initiatives have had to overcome obstacles to exist, outside the legal.

This scenario, the current circumstances in which the industry is developing, the challenges of these forms of management and the possibilities of a more diverse and dynamic future panorama, with the long-awaited arrival of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Cooperatives for the sector, they called the debate in this tenth episode of Los Cassettes de AM:PM.

Lilian Triana, Economics graduate, university professor, producer, one of the founders of the Four Wives team; Amalia Rojas, show and concert producer, artist manager, and also a member of the Four Wives project; the composer and singer Eme Alfonso, cultural manager and director of Havana World Music; and Daniel Hernández Pausa, founder together with David Reyes Corzo, from República Records, were the guests of Darsi Fernández for this new installment that opens the dialogue of a song that, clearly, is not exhausted —despite our previous forays into it—and he has a lot of material to cut.
