The music that lives us

To have Music at hand. To find it in parks, balconies, windows. In the living room of a house, under a yellow spotlight, among rum and bustle, or in the silence of a solitary room. In any corner. Perhaps another way of finding life. The gallery we present today returns music to its natural state, in any of its formats, to give it that touch of omnipresence that characterizes it, at least here. And of course, a trumpet for jazz is not the same as a tres at the guateque, or a pair of hands imitating percussion to accompany any catchy chorus. Music is, in several cultures (including ours) a source of affective, physical and emotional experience, almost invasive. Listening remains a mystery. Without necessarily being measured by our qualities, by our musical knowledge, anyone can receive, unawares, the rapture -or an equivalent emotion- of a piece of music.

Alina Sardiñas, Lilien Trujillo, Héctor Garrido, Iván Soca, David López, Majo Minatel, Kaloian and Larisa López, gave us musical photos, either because they went out to look for them in the Havana night of bars and jazz, or because they crossed their path and could not avoid taking out their cameras. Photography accompanies us this time to report "at street level", to make the tonalities attractive; a game of lights and compositions to show us the different places -and moods- in which music is made, with the same objective each time: that it inhabits us and survives us.
