The Varadero Josone Festival: Rumba, Jazz & Son, will celebrate its fourth edition from August 18 to 25, 2024 in the cities of Matanzas and Varadero, Cuba. This event, which has become an important date in the Cuban cultural calendar, seeks to combine the country's musical tradition with the tourist attraction of Varadero.<\/p>\n
The musical curatorship is in charge of Issac Delgado, who in addition to being the founder, serves as president of the event. This edition reveres the great festivals held in the 1980s in Varadero -also an essential musical destination in the Caribbean-, while marking a significant expansion, both in duration and locations, and seeks to attract a wider and more diverse audience.<\/p>\n
The festival will start with a series of free concerts at El Tenis beach in Matanzas on August 18, 19 and 20. This decision by the organizers seems to be aimed at widening access to the event and allowing a greater participation of the local public. At the same time, throughout the week, DJ Adriano will perform at Josone Park in Varadero, as a preamble to the concerts.<\/p>\n
From August 22 to 25, the Josone will be the main stage of the festival. The lineup announced so far includes outstanding Cuban music figures such as Issac Delgado and his orchestra, Formell and Los Van Van, Alain P\u00e9rez and his orchestra, Maykel Blanco and Salsa Mayor, S\u00edntesis, Wampi, Real Project and Ra\u00fal Paz, among others. The variety of artists suggests a program that will cover diverse musical genres, although with an emphasis on Cuban dance music.<\/p>\n
Tickets to access the Park will be available at the following venues: Casa de la M\u00fasica de Miramar (Havana) and Casa de la M\u00fasica de Galeano (Havana), starting July 18; and later at Casa de la M\u00fasica de Varadero (Matanzas). The national public, interested in attending the nights of concerts, can purchase tickets at a cost of 1,500 cup per day, or 5,000 cup for the four days. For non-residents of the island, the entrance ticket will cost 30 USD.<\/p>\n
The event is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of Cuba and the Ministry of Tourism; it is also supported by Egrem and the Government of Matanzas. The event is organized by a group of independent projects: M\u00fasica Punto Cero, OLA, La Rueda Producciones and the production company Four Wives.<\/p>\n
The Varadero Josone Festival is part of a tradition of musical events in Cuba that seek to promote national music and attract cultural tourism.
