Produced at Ojal\u00e1 Studios between 2019 and 2024, the album was directed and produced by Silvio Rodr\u00edguez himself. The recording and mixing was carried out by Olimpia Calder\u00f3n Arias and Merl\u00edn Lorenzo. Likewise, the mastering process was in charge of Orestes \u00c1guila, while the design is the work of Ar\u00edstides Torres.<\/p>\n
Regarding the conception of this work, the singer-songwriter said:<\/p>\n
\"It's hard to name a record. First it was going to be Songs of the 21st century (minus one)<\/i>. Then I thought about Then<\/i>. Finally, I have decided to I would like to know<\/i>. Although perhaps it should be called I want to know<\/i>because that's what moves me.<\/p>\n
The only song that is not from this century is the last one, that is: Tonada for two poems by Rub\u00e9n Mart\u00ednez Villena<\/i>. I composed this music in the early 70s, when Roberto Fern\u00e1ndez Retamar asked me to make a record with Mart\u00ed's poems and I told him that I did not dare, because of the quality of those that had been released with the authorship of Pablo Milan\u00e9s, Sara Gonz\u00e1lez and Amaury P\u00e9rez.<\/p>\n
Then Roberto suggested that I do it with poems by Rub\u00e9n, a poet and revolutionary of the 1930s, whom we both admired. I managed to set some of his verses to music, but the only thing I decided to show was my approach to these two intense alexandrine quatrains, so current. At that time I recorded a version with Emiliano Salvador, Eduardo Ramos and Leoginaldo Pimentel, members, like me, of that remote Grupo de Experimentaci\u00f3n Sonora del ICAIC (GES). I think this new version is also worth it, because of the excellent musicians who accompany me.<\/p>\n
The other songs, the current ones, I sang them in many neighborhood concerts. And I think they are like this young and battered century, which I hope one day will grow wings\".<\/p>\n
The album features the participation of the musicians that usually accompany the troubadour: Jorge Arag\u00f3n and Frank Fern\u00e1ndez (on Blind Angel<\/i>), on piano; Oliver Vald\u00e9s on drums and percussion; Emilio Vega on vibraphone and congas; Jorge Reyes on bass; Maykel Elizarde on tres; Rachid L\u00f3pez on guitar; flutes, clarinets and backing vocals by Niurka Gonz\u00e1lez; Alina Neira on cello; violins I by Javier Cantillo and Anabel Est\u00e9vez; second violins by Aylin Pino and Jenny Pe\u00f1a; violas by Gretchen Labrada and Osvaldo E. Castro; Roberto Carlos Ram\u00edrez and Carolina Rodr\u00edguez on cellos; choirs of Malva Rodr\u00edguez and Silvio Rodr\u00edguez on guitar, vihuela, percussions and vocals.<\/p>\n
