Cuban music celebrated this May 15 the Cubadisco 2024 Awards, where a wide range of genres were recognized, from classical music and jazz to pop, fusion and reggaeton. The gala took place at the Mart\u00ed Theater, as part of the Cubadisco 2024 International Music Fair.<\/p>\n

Pianist Frank Fern\u00e1ndez and the Orquesta Sinf\u00f3nica Nacional de Cuba, under the direction of Enrique P\u00e9rez Mesa, won the Grand Prize for Beethoven. Piano Concertos<\/i>.<\/p>\n

In the category of Opera Prima, Yosander & Agranel were honored for their album Dressing<\/i>while Toques del Rio received the award in the Alternative Fusion category for Don't make me a crisis<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Jazz musician Orlando \"Maraca\" Valle and his Big Band Flautas Gigantes were recognized in the Jazz category for their album of the same name. Trombone with Demetrio Mu\u00f1iz<\/i>by Demetrio Mu\u00f1iz.<\/p>\n

In the urban music category, Charly & Johayron won in the category of Reguet\u00f3n with their E.G.O.,<\/i> and Alexander Abreu and Havana D' Primera won the award in the Current Dance Music category for Pueblo Griffo<\/i>.<\/p>\n

The legendary Omara Portuondo received the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her outstanding career and contribution to Cuban music, while the Music Producer Award went to musicologist Sonia P\u00e9rez Cassola.<\/p>\n

The Cubadisco 2024 Awards are dedicated this year to the celebration of country music and have Colombia as guest country. The activities began on May 10 and will last until May 17 (here you can consult the full program of the event<\/a>).<\/p>\n
