The Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation announced This February 21 the possibility of applying for three types of scholarships for young Latinos with talent for music, offering the possibility of financing part of their university studies.

The first option is the Sebastián Yatra Scholarship. As reported on the foundation's Instagram page, "this scholarship is worth up to $200,000 for four years and is awarded to a student admitted to Berklee College of Music to begin a bachelor's degree in fall 2024."

In second place is the Talento Matrícula Scholarship, worth US$100,000 for four years and awarded to three students already admitted to the music institution of their choice.

The Tuition Assistance Scholarship, worth up to US$10,000 for one year of study, is also available for 37 music students to begin or continue their studies at the institution of their choice.

Finally, those interested can apply for the Gibson Gives Tuition Assistance Scholarship, which offers $10,000 for one year of study for guitar students to begin or continue at their chosen institution.

The Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation's website states that the requirements for these opportunities include a passion for Latin music, being between 17 and 25 years old, and financial limitations to obtain a degree in music, as well as having been admitted to a college or university of their choice.

Interested parties should fill in their request on-line by April 10, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.

The foundation explains that "as part of the scholarships awarded, recipients will be mentored by the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation team. In addition, they will have the opportunity to participate in master classes and learning experiences with artists, entertainment professionals and sponsors as part of their curriculum and professional development.

"We are committed to promoting the development of Latin music creators and preserving the legacy of Latin sounds, which is why the mentorship program supports the mentees in achieving their goals and offers them the different perspectives of veterans and peers in the field."

In the last nine years, the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation has awarded 383 scholarships, with an investment of 7.6 million dollars, according to its website. Through these scholarships, an equal number of artists have had the possibility of accessing musical studies in important artistic institutions and universities.
