On this occasion, the duo competes with the bachata of the Dominican Aventura and Monchy y Alexandra; and with the Mexican cumbia of Los Ángeles Azules and La Sonora Dinamita. In general, the 21 nominations of Mexican phenomenon Peso Pluma stand out, as well as the 15 obtained by fellow countrymen Grupo Frontera and Puerto Rican Bad Bunny.

The awards gala will be held on October 5 at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida, U.S.A. This is the 30th edition of this recognition of the popularity and commercial success of Latin artists who transcend their borders.

Gente de Zona, or at least its essence, is for many Alexander Delgado. In the eastern municipalities of Havana, in the heat of the urban genre, it was born in the 2000s as a duo that included Alexander himself and Michel Delgado. Little by little, the duo came to position itself in the local scene and even obtained the recognition of the country's cultural institutions. Between disagreements and changes of members, Gente de Zona stayed afloat for more than a decade, until 2013, when Alexander was joined by former Charanga Habanera member Randy Malcom. A year later came the collaboration that catapulted them to international success: Bailandowith Enrique Iglesias and Descember Bueno, a song that topped the Billboard Top Latin Songs chart at the time. 2015 continued to smile on their faces with the release of two singles in collaboration with the famous Puerto Rican Marc Anthony, La gozadera and Traitor.

To date, Gente de Zona already boasts six Latin Grammy Awards, twelve Billboard Awards, an extensive number of performances at festivals and international stages and a discography with seven volumes. This year 2023, the artists had already been nominated for Latin American Music Awards for It's mealong with reggaeton artists Don Omar and Wisin, and in three categories of the Premios Lo Nuestro 2023. So while this news did not take them by surprise, the musicians did not fail to show their gratitude and enthusiasm on their social networks, while on tour. Too much summer for Europe.

Gente de Zona is nominated to the Billboard Awards for the eighth consecutive time.
