<\/p>\n
I never thought I was important
\nand less essential.
\nI found it unbelievable
\nto be able to get ahead.
\nI felt like an inhabitant
\nwithout beginning or end,
\na vague animal
\nof the dark, a cicada,
\nuntil a guitar
\nimmersed me in its spiral.
\nAnd in it I saw myself searching
\nthe missing melody,
\nverses I could never find
\nand there they were, waiting.
\nAnd what I found I was releasing
\nas my breath,
\nwas either impulse or reflection,
\ndream or nightmare,
\nand even looking at a chair
\na song appeared.
\nAlways singing straight ahead
\nI named what distinguished
\n(whether it could or could not
\npeople told me about it).
\nI always believed in the current
\nmorning of the sincere
\nand when they gave me leather
\nfor speaking his mind,
\nsinging more relieved me
\nbecause I'm better at singing.
\nJust existing was a challenge
\nin a world made by men.
\nEverything already had its name
\nwell minted and with bib.
\nAnd no disrespect
\nthan it deserved,
\nI offered what I believed
\nin my bars and verses:
\nlittle piece of the universe
\nmade at night and during the day.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
