A statue of Tekashi 6ix9ine in Cuba
A statue of rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine made headlines this week in Cuba. Created by sculptor Genis Osorio, the clay piece with bronzed touches was placed outside a house in the city of Bayamo, Granma province, at the request of its owner.
The representation of the singer, which shows him holding a microphone in one hand and carrying a stack of bills in the other, generated divided opinions in social networks due to the controversies surrounding the figure of the artist. However, in his profile on Instagram the author of the sculpture expressed himself in defense of his work, arguing that, regardless of Tekashi's conduct in his personal life and his art, his "virtue of helping others" must be recognized.
The North American singer of Mexican origin is remembered in Cuba for some curious acts of philanthropy (which he later divulged and capitalized on his networks), in which he gave away money to several people -it is said that he distributed a total of some 50 thousand dollars-, which is why not a few users defend the existence of the statue.
During his visits to the island, the rapper has recorded video clips, such as the one he filmed in Pinar del Río, where he stayed with a Cuban family. line-up He was the star of a scandal at the Packard Hotel, when he was accused of causing a small commotion at the entrance of the building after throwing bills from his room (6ix9ine himself later denied being the author of the event).
Although it has been a few days since the news began to circulate in networks, the protagonist of the "tribute" has not yet commented on the matter.
