International event on music and periodicals is taking place online

The Institute of Musical Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy, Humanities and Arts of the National University of San Juan (Argentina), together with the Working Group on Music and Newspapers of the Regional Association for Latin America and the Caribbean of the International Musicological Society (GTMP-ARLAC/IMS), organized the I International Meeting of the GTMP-ARLAC/IMS, which was held at the Universidad Nacional de San Juan (Argentina). on-line on April 5 and will continue on the 12th and 19th of this month.

The meeting is intended as a space for the exchange of knowledge and research results on music in Latin American and Caribbean periodicals and their cultural relations with other continents. The study of newspapers, specialized magazines and various serial publications, either as a source of research or as objects of study in themselves, aims, in this case, to formulate methodologies, discuss critical issues and develop interdisciplinary approaches from micro and macro-historical, local and transnational perspectives.

Nine thematic panels and six research groups will be presented over fifteen sessions, with the participation of professionals from Latin America, Spain, Portugal and the United States. These spaces will address various issues related to music and its dissemination in the mass media, providing new and enriching perspectives for the field of musicology.

The event will be transmitted via YouTube thanks to the technical assistance of the Institutional Distance Education System (SIED) of the National University of San Juan. The programming will be divided into two large blocks for each day: one in the morning (from 9:00 to 13:00 UTC-3) and one in the afternoon (between 14:00 and 19:00 UTC-3). The links corresponding to each block will be shared on the days of the event to facilitate access to those interested.
