Ibermúsicas Program opens its annual calls for proposals
With the purpose of promoting the amalgam of musical projects that each year cross borders in search of new challenges, the Ibermúsicas program opens a series of calls and competitions for various modalities.
As announced in their social networks and websiteThe program seeks to dynamize and strengthen the music sector through public support policies, encourage musical creation in all its forms, regardless of styles, genres and traditions, as well as promote professionalization, accessibility and inclusion and, fundamentally, democratize access to culture.
The call invites agents from the music sector to submit projects that can generate a positive impact anywhere in the world. The proposals for this call cycle are:
-Helps the circulation of music professionals:
Projects seeking internationalization can be presented, both musical performances and those that promote exchanges of creation, composition, research and knowledge. Considering the high cost of international tickets, this call is designed to provide financial assistance for the purchase of air, land or river tickets.
-Assists in music programming:
Aimed at programmers of festivals, music fairs and markets, concert halls, music schools, orchestras or choirs, among other events and ventures, who want to invite music professionals to participate in their projects. Thus, a festival or a cultural corridor of music festivals, for example, may submit a proposal to invite artists from different countries; a record label may invite artists from different countries to participate in its projects. bookers The following are some of the possibilities: an orchestra or several associated orchestras may apply to invite a conductor; an association of instrumentalists may apply to invite a luthier to provide training; and many other possibilities. -Assistance to artists and researchers for residencies:
Designed to develop creative or research work with a host institution or musical group. In this sense, this call is open not only to composers or musical groups but also to researchers, to carry out projects anywhere in the world. The duration of the residencies must be a minimum of three weeks.
-Assistance to institutions for residences:
Dedicated to public or private institutions, organizations or groups with the possibility of inviting composers, conductors, directors or researchers from all over the world to carry out creative or research work in residence for a minimum period of three weeks.
-It helps to specialization and artistic and technical improvement:
It offers the opportunity to carry out advanced studies in all fields of knowledge and musical endeavors anywhere in the world. This process can be carried out both within the institutional environment as well as privately with great masters of popular culture. The financial support of Ibermúsicas can be applied to all the costs of a specialization process.
-Assistance to virtual projects:
Focused on the realization of musical projects that use virtual tools as a platform: album recording, creation of video clips, shows in streamingvirtual collaborations, videoconferences, virtual workshops, podcasts and much more.
Helps promote the Ibero-American repertoire:
Ibermúsicas novelty aimed at orchestras, choirs, ensembles, among others, to promote the programming of written music created by composers from Ibero-America. The works must belong to the Ibero-American Catalog of Scores available on the Ibermúsicas website. This is a living catalog to which new works can be added permanently and free of charge, which will democratize access to and dissemination of works from the region. The call for entries is an invitation to delve into the enormous collection of written music that reflects the great creative wealth of the Ibero-American region.
-Ibermúsicas Prize of song for children:
Contest for authors from the region who compose in creative duo. This year it will have a new focus: it will be especially oriented towards songs for children, where the Ibero-American song has a great relevance. Ibermúsicas proposes in this new contest the possibility of creating lyrics in all the languages of the Ibero-American countries, inviting to explore native languages as well.
-Ibermúsicas Prize for the composition of choral works:
It is specifically oriented towards the creation of new choral works, which will be premiered by first level national ensembles from Cuba and Venezuela.
-Special call for Ibermúsicas - Mid Atlantic Arts:
In order to promote intercultural dialogue between musical artists from Ibero-America and the United States, Ibermúsicas and Mid Atlantic Arts are offering this call in collaboration to provide assistance for the circulation of Ibero-American artists in the United States. Aware of the impact of the cost and processing of work visas on projects that promote the circulation of artists in the U.S., Ibermúsicas is committed to providing assistance specifically in this area. Mid Atlantic Arts will support the selected projects by providing financial assistance to the institutions hosting the concerts for the management of artistic contracts.
-Travels through the music in Portuguese language:
A line of support for citizens of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries located in Africa (Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Sao Tome and Principe) and Asia (East Timor). At the initiative of Brazil and Portugal, the support line was created to facilitate the circulation of artists and musical agents from these countries throughout the Ibero-American region. The purpose of this call is to highlight the ties arising from the musical diversity of Portuguese-speaking countries, in order to build bridges of culture and cooperation between Latin America, Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia. Multilateral and pluricontinental in nature, this initiative aims to reduce physical distances and bring their peoples closer together.
-Brazil Prize - Ibermúsicas:
Proposed to recognize the merit of initiatives or spaces that have dedicated themselves, over the years, to the diffusion of Brazilian music in the Ibero-American space and in the world.
-Peru Prize - Ibermúsicas, 100 years since the birth of Nicomedes Santa Cruz - Creation of a song in tenths of a decade
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of the greatest Peruvian artists in history and to celebrate his work and legacy as a folklorist and thinker who promoted the vindication of the culture and rights of the Afro-Peruvian community, Peru is proposing this contest that will reward the creation of a song inspired by his musical work, which will be premiered as part of the commemorations.
The terms and conditions for all the competitions are available on the Ibermúsicas website. The application period will be open from June 15. The calls will remain open until October 1, except for the Ibermúsicas-Mid Atlantic Arts synergy call, whose application period ends on September 15. The selected projects will be announced on November 29.
