By Sebastian Peña /Shock.co

April was packed with concerts. Small, medium and large. There was something for everyone. There is public and an effervescent cultural atmosphere. Shock and the Gilberto Álzate Avendaño Foundation inaugurated the project Live On The Pier with the concerts of Katie James and Baquiano Ensemble, which was streamed live on Shock's Twitch. In the city of Valledupar, department of Cesar, the Vallenata Legend Festival was also held, one of the country's famous genres, with Fonseca, Manuel Turizo and a tribute to Jorge Oñate. The month closed with Maluma's historic concert in Medellín, in which Blessd, Kapla, Miky, Pipe Bueno and, look at this: Madonna also participated.

The Colombians also shone outside: Karol G debuted on the main stage of Coachella; Ela Minus closed one of the event's platforms for two nights and the Colombian-Canadian Jessie Reyez also stepped on the platform with a show which we saw live on YouTube.

The month was also full of new announcements: the tickets for Guns N' Roses in Bogotá sold out in a few hours, the Motomami was announced tours of Rosalía, the five concerts of Daddy Yankee in Colombia and, in addition, the arrival of a new festival called Cordillera that will focus on Latin American music was announced.

And to top it off, these were our favorite releases:

The song night eyes it became an anthem of spite (considered the best song of that year by Shock) and received a Latin Grammy nomination. After reaching this new peak in her project, Elsa doubted how to take her next step, how it was going to sound, what to talk about and how to do justice to what she had achieved. We are no longer the same was the answer. In his new project there is a lot of resilience, forgiveness, maturity and change: his own lyrics and songs that go through different moods.

Traveler, Fonseca's new album is a journey of 10 songs in which he appeals to the nostalgia of his first hits. The Bogota native worked with different artists for this album, such as Juan Galeano from Diamante Eléctrico, the Cuban Cimafunk, the Mexican trio Matisse, the Vallenato icon Silvestre Dangond and the Cali natives Greeicy & Cali and El Dandee. A 33-minute album that had its official presentation at the Festival De La Leyenda Vallenata.

This year Alejandro Santamaría completes three years of his debut as a solo musician, and begins the celebration with the publication of his first full-length, Awake. This album is a journey through pop-rock, country, ballads, popetón and funk that has been explored by different producers. The Argentine Sael, the Venezuelans ADSO, Kobi Cantillo, the Mexican Kurt and the Colombians Pitizion, Yera, Andrés Cepeda and Ovy On The Drums collaborated on the project.

Straight from the south of Colombia, one of Cali's most respected crews, Zalama Crew, presented Fever, a powerful single with a lot of dance hall and afro power. It has the collaboration of Sizzla Kolonji and is designed to set fire to the track.

Realidad Mental, the rap icon from the town of Kennedy in Bogotá, joins forces with La Niña manizaleña for a song about the internal pains and the pains of the country. Realidad comments that "our rap and our country are the color of blood, a deep wound in the soul." The official video of the chaguala shows the two artists in the creative process of the theme.

Fracking and Shopping by Edson Velandia and Adriana Lizcano is a single where humor, the romanticism of a healthy relationship and protest against fracking, controversial oil extraction technique that generates great effects on animal species and nature. The song also portrays a beautiful love in which a couple enjoys living in honesty and humility.

It is accompanied by a video clip made in Cali, Valle Del Cauca, by the audiovisual production company LaRuta.

Chocquibtown, the most emblematic band of the Colombian Pacific, decided to face the separation rumors with the release of Bitcoin, a new single in which they prove that they still have the strength and connection to continue creating music together. Of course, it must be said that Goyo's solo career is on a very good path: a few days ago he starred on the cover of Miss Vogue Magazine in Mexico.

Farina and Ryan Castro arrive with Party. Both represent reggaeton made in Medellin, but for this union they decided to honor the love they both feel for dancehall. At this moment Ryan is the most listened to musician of the genre in Colombia and for Farina it was vital to capture the feeling of neighborhood discos or clandestine parties in this theme.
