Cubadisco 2024, dedicated to country music and the link with Colombia
The upcoming edition of the Cubadisco Awards, the main event of the Cuban music industry, is preparing to strengthen cultural ties with Colombia, one of the great sound powers of our continent. This year, the event will also be dedicated to highlighting the richness and legacy of country music, an authentic expression of Cuban folklore.
At this time, the Award Committee is evaluating the proposals that have been sent to the call for entries, which will be announced to the public on April 26 during the nominees gala. Subsequently, on May 10, a press conference will be held to provide additional details about the event, and on May 14, the awards gala will be held.
Cubadisco's tribute to Colombia this year also aims to strengthen cultural ties between the two nations. As revealed to Prensa Latina Jorge Gómez, president of the event, the event will feature a talented Colombian representation, including artists from diverse genres such as trova, urban rhythms, salsa and symphonic music.
Colombia will have a prominent stand at the fair, and a special category will be created within Cubadisco dedicated exclusively to the music of the Latin American country. In addition, there are plans to make joint recordings in the Abdala studios, involving Cuban and Colombian artists.
