Ghetto Kumbé in Havana

The Colombian electronic music group Ghetto Kumbé will arrive for the first time in Havana to carry out a program of activities sponsored by the Young Art Fund.

The social networks of the Colombian group have published the schedule of their visit to Cuba, which begins with a workshop, on February 13 and 14, dedicated to the Creation, Production and Promotion of Ghetto Kumbé style electronic music, for young people trained by the project A Ritmo de Inclusión, financed by the European Union and the Youth Art Fund of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

On February 15, at the Fábrica de Arte Cubano (F.A.C.), the three members of Ghetto Kumbé will hold an exchange with part of the Cuban DJ and producer community, in a conversation that will focus on the presence of Afro-Caribbean rhythms in the group's production. They will return to F.A.C. on the 17th for a concert.

Meanwhile, on the 16th at 8:00 p.m., one of the most anticipated moments of their visit will take place at Estudio 50, the first Havana RPM Listening Party in 2024, which will host the presentation of Ghetto Kumbé's latest album. Mr Funk, the A Ritmo de Inclusión project, led by DJ Reitt, and other local artists such as DJ Landeep, DJ Jigüe and Yasek Manzano will also perform at Estudio 50 during the night of the Listening Party. Admission to this event will be free of charge.

Ghetto Kumbé emerged with the union of three musicians from the Colombian Caribbean, residents of Bogota, who have dedicated themselves to making music fusing elements of Afro-Colombian folklore and electronic music.

With their rhythms they have reached important stages around the world such as the Glastonbury Festival in England, Roskilde in Denmark and Eurockéennes in France.

In 2021 they were selected by the Transoceanic Observatory and Womex for one of the official showcases, among more than four hundred bands.
